A NECKLACE ACROSS THE POND + COHOSTING @ STYLETOINSPIRE!

Finally I am on the ROCK!

The run up to this holiday has been crazy & hence the radio silence from the blogging sphere; however I’m back with a very exciting & fun post whereby I’m joining the stylish Rhea@Rheaetcetera to show how we styled the same necklace which travelled across the pond & back!

Let me put you in the picture:

A few months ago I was gifted a colourful statement necklace from my dear friend who knows that I am a sucker for beautiful statment necklaces. This necklace is nothing like any other necklace which I own or which I would normally buy. To be honest I had a mixed reaction when I opened the gift. At first sight I loved it…the mix of colours is gorgeous (yellow, purple, orange & fushia); however I did ask myself “how can I wear this?!”. I needed a little incentive to get creative … hence where Rhea comes in the picture.

Rhea is the Queen of Statment necklaces & I’m always getting inspiration from her perfectly combined outfits. It’s not the first time I’ve reached out for Rhea’s style posts for inspiration – do you remember the Kimono post? Check it out if you would like to have a look how I styled my Kimono; thanks to Rhea!

Back to the necklace: Rhea & I agreed that I would send the necklace, by post, all the way to the USA so she can style, send it back to me & I’ll challenge myself to style it my way; get together today & show you how we both styled this Lucky Necklace (lucky…indeed – it travelled from Germany to the USA & back; & now it’s in Malta!)

On Friday evening, Matt & I flew to Malta for our much awaited Christmas holiday. When travelling I always opt for comfortable clothes. Besides a car journey of two & half hours to Frankfurt airport, all the waiting & juggling of luggages (I never travel light!), we have another two & half hours on the plane. I hate feeling uncomfortable & since I sleep most of the journey I want to be able to snuggle in a huge but soft cardigan. I tend to discard a coat because of the bulkiness.

I decided to wear my new chunky cardigan, a white tee-shirt, a pair of black pants, flats & a beanie to hide a bad hair day..the weather did not help…it’s been dreadful! We had rain all week and the black & white travel outfit matched perfectly! I wanted to spice up this outfit with a pop of colour to go with my excited & happy holiday feeling! I get giddy when I’m travelling back home, especially for Christmas! And this necklace is perfect to distract from the makeup free face:)

Here’s how I styled my travel outfit with the Necklace:)

First of all you are so funny for calling Malta “the rock”, as if I didn’t just giggle!

And….This idea of sending a necklace over the ocean to be styled and then back again is BRILLIANT!. This is what fashion is all about. The same item in two different people’s hands can turn into a completely different object.

I would have styled it like you, with a more bohemian relaxed vibe, but I love how Rhea turned it into a business / casual office accessory.

One of my favorite posts ever!

Such a cute and colourful necklace! I like it paired with the black and white 🙂

Hope you have a lovely trip and it goes smoothly for you!

Thank you for the link up.
